NLS driver De Groot (21) fights his way from the Nordschleife to Le Mans: “Everything I have goes into racing”

Almost every weekend driving on The Green Hell and never getting enough: Max Verstappen could almost be jealous of NLS winner Calvin de Groot (21) from Hoorn. The young Dutchman made his debut in 2025 in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie and is dominating the competition in his BMW 330i. De Groot has a clear goal in mind and hopes to leave his calling card everywhere.

In Germany, that has already been quite successful, as of the nine races held so far on the Nordschleife, De Groot and his teammates have won the NLS3 in the VT2-RWD class, and have also finished on the podium five more times. In NLS4 en 6 the #504 BMW from Sorg Rennsport unfortunately did not reach the finish, and in NLS5 they had to record a DNS. Perseverance and dedication prevail regardless.

The NLS marked a new challenge for De Groot at the beginning of 2025, who at that time was still a fresh NXT-Gen Cup champion. In 2024, he won six times and finished off the podium only twice. A solid foundation to tackle the track in the Eifel again and again. “At the start of the season, I did think that at some point it might get a bit boring,” De Groot says in an interview with F1Maximaal.nl. “As NLS8 and NLS9 prove, it turns out it’s never the same.”
